Jungian analysis is the approach developed by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung and focuses on bringing the conscious and unconscious parts of ourselves into a healthier relationship. In his book Incognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain, neuroscientist David Eagleman writes, “Most of what we do and think and feel is not under our conscious control. The conscious you—the I that flickers to life when you wake up in the morning—is the smallest bit of what’s transpiring in your brain.” Long before the discoveries of modern neuroscience, Jung understood that our unconscious attitudes and patterns affect the way we understand ourselves and interpret the world around us. Jungian analysis gives us tools to integrate the hidden and repressed parts of ourselves in order to better understand who we are, our motivations and relationships.
